A new redesigned 2017 Ford Super Duty is coming; perhaps you should wait for a while before investing in a new truck. This is the first time that e Super Duty will feature an aluminum body.
In a press statement, Ford said that the new models will featured reduced weight but with a better productivity than its predecessor. It will have a better towing and payload capability.
2017 Ford Super Duty Exterior
The 2017 Super Duty will be offered in 3 cab configurations i.e. Regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew. The SuperCab comes with a suicide-style rear door which opens up 170 degrees. The SuperCab and SuperCrew will feature flat rear floors and foldable bench seats which allow one to expand cargo capacity.
The exterior design of the new Super Duty will be based on the Atlas Concept and will thus be aggressive, elegant, and very powerful. To start with, the Super Duty body will be built with military grade aluminum meaning it will have a reduced total weight; actually it will be around 350 pounds lighter than the current model. This reduction will lead to a better fuel economy. Overall, the truck has a boxy look riddled with smooth body lines that make it look stylish.
The front fascia will feature a redesigned grille integrated with a Ford logo in the middle. The bumper has also been redesigned to look bolder and has been hooked up with new fog lights. Headlights too have been redesigned and will feature LED technology. At the rear, the truck features new taillights and a modified exhaust system. The Super Duty will ride on 17, 18 and 20-inch wheels backed by a strong suspension making it ideal for off-road performance.
2017 Ford Super Duty Interior
The 2017 Super Duty truck will come in five trim levels i.e. Ranch, Lariat, King, XL, and XLT. The interior resembles that of the current F-150. Occupants will enjoy a luxurious interior which benefits from the improvements made recently on the F-150. The truck features comfortable modern seats which are spaced well and are covered with fine leather.
The new dashboard is more interactive and features a large touch-screen that controls various car features as well as the infotainment system. The vehicle also comes with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, USB ports, Bluetooth, and Smartphone connectivity. Passengers will also enjoy cool temperatures courtesy of the modern climate control system. It also comes equipped with 7 cameras which give the driver a 360-degree overhead viewing angle.
For entertainment purposes, the truck comes equipped with SYNC 3 as standard. This infotainment software offers a better performance with voice recognition and a more intuitive interface. Safety wise, the Super Duty comes equipped enhanced seat belts, airbags and with an upgraded safety package which includes blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
The automaker will retain power-trains used in the previous model. There will be three power-trains in total.
The first unit is a 6.2 L V-8 petrol engine while the second engine is a 6.8 L V-8 power Stroke engine. The last engine option is a 6.7 V-8 PowerStroke Diesel engine. All engines will be paired to automatic transmission systems. The transmission selection will however change depending on the engine. Full information on these selections is yet to be released.
However, the automaker confirmed that the 6.2 L engine in F-250 will feature a TorqueShift-G. In Terms of output, the automaker is still tight lipped, but according to our sources, the 6.7 L Power Stroke unit could reach 1000lb-ft of torque. Motorists will chose between rear-wheel drive and four wheel drive mode. Details about the engines fuel economy are yet to be released too but we will inform you as soon as we have them.
Price and release date
The 2017 Ford Super Duty will hit the dealer showrooms late next year (2016) and while announcing the release date the automaker also said that details on its pricing will be announced closer to its launch. According to rumors, the basic price MSRP will be around $ 33.500.
