The Ford Explorer is among the best-selling SUVs in the market today. To maintain this level of sales, Ford has released an upgraded model for the 2018 model year. However, not wanting to mess up a good thing, the new model features only a few visual upgrades for all trims. The most notable features on the Sport trim are the addition of 20-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires and tightening of its suspension to deliver better performance than base trims.

2018 Ford Explorer Sport

2018 Ford Explorer Sport Exterior

The 2018 Ford Explorer Sport has only undergone minor exterior upgrades. At the front, the model features a new grille insert while the grille itself is flanked by revised fog light housings that look much smaller than those on the outgoing model. The lower grille X design has been replaced with a grid pattern. On the sides, the lower character lines now extend behind the rear wheels, which give the model a somewhat longer look despite it dimensions remaining unchanged. There is no other change on the flanks. At the rear, the Sport features a new lower fascia.

Unlike the base trims, the Explorer Sport is hooked up with quad exhaust pipes with a chrome finish instead of twin pipes in the outgoing model. The units enhance the rear Sporty look. The model will be available in four new exterior colors; they are Platinum Dune Tricoat, Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat, Blue Metallica and Cinnamon Glaze. As said earlier, the model features a tighter suspension and rides on a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires.

Interior

Like the exterior, the interior features slight changes. One of the new changes is the upgrading of the model’s technologies. First, the model features a 4G LTE modem along with a Wi-Fi hotspot capable of supporting 10 devices. The hotspot has a range of 50 feet allowing you to access it even from your office, in your home or when picnicking during weekends. The model now features a SYNC Connect that allows remote access of the model using the FordPass to lock, unlock, start or locate the car wherever it is. It also offers diagnostics information.

With all rows intact, the model trunk has 21-cubic feet of cargo space that can be expanded to 80.7 cubic feet upon folding the 2nd row and 3rd row seats. The model still retains its cool leather seats with heating at the front, SiriusXM radio, a navigation system, panoramic moonroof, a power adjustable steering column and pedal, Bluetooth connectivity, memory settings for the driver’s seat as well as a partially digital cluster.

For safety, the Explorer Sport features the “Safe and Smart” package as standard. The package bundles together adaptive cruise control backed by brake support, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring along with a vibrating steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers and auto high-beams.

Engine and performance

The base trims are powered by is a 2.3 L EcoBoost 4-cylinder mill that produces 280 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque and a naturally aspirated 3.5 L, V-6 that cranks out 290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. However, the Explorer Sport is powered by a more powerful mill to back its performance status. The unit is a 3.5 L EcoBoost V-6 that churns out 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is hooked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The system channels the juice to front wheels as standard; AWD is available as an option. If you opt for AWD, you will benefit from the automaker’s Terrain Management System that features 4 driver-selectable positions (Sand Gravel, Mud, Grass and Snow). The system also features Hill Descent Control. When well equipped with the Class III trailering package, the engine can tow as much as 5000 lbs.

Price and release date

Ford is yet to release prices of the 2018 Ford Explorer Sport as well as that of other Explorer trims. This information will be available when the model nears its release date scheduled for later this year. However, considering the 2018 model has not undergone significant upgrades, the price will increase slightly mostly to cater for inflation. The current model sells at $45,355.

Competition

The 2018 Ford Explorer Sport will compete with performance-oriented models of the Nissan Pathfinder, Kia Sorento, Dodge Durango, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot and Chevrolet Traverse.

Ever since the discontinuation of the Crown Victoria, Ford has established dominance on the law enforcement auto market only ceding little ground to competitors.  The automaker is set to strengthen its stranglehold on this market even further with the release of the 2018 Ford F-150 Police Special Service Vehicle along with the 2018 Ford Expedition Special Service Vehicle. The Ford Expedition SSV is reviewed separately.  In addition to police duty, Special service vehicles are also used by other government agencies such as forestry service. The vehicles are also offered to fleet customers as they offer greater cargo carrying space, towing capability as well as a higher level of off-road capability.

2018 Ford F-150 Police Special Service Vehicle Exterior

Ford has barely altered the exterior of the 2018 Ford F-150 SSV compared to that of the regular models. The only additions that set the SSV from the civilian model are the decals and the lightbar. Ford, however, said that the model features advanced materials that inhibit corrosions, especially under its belly.

2018 Ford F-150 Police Special Service Vehicle

Interior

Unlike the civilian models, the SSV does not feature any luxury add-ons such as leather seats, heating on the seats and other luxury trappings. The cabin is very simple to ensure officers concentrate on their duties. On the inside, the truck features a 40/blank/40 vinyl bench seat at the front rather than the 40/20/40 bench on civilian models. This has allowed for extra customization of the cabin.

The standard rear bench and carpets have been replaced with a vinyl bench and also vinyl flooring respectively to ease cleaning up of the SSV. The 2018 Ford F-150 SSV will be offered in only the XL trim and in both SuperCab and SuperCrew body styles.

Engine and performance

The 2018 F-150 Police SSV shares the base engine with the 2018 Expedition SSV. The engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.5 L, EcoBoost V-6. Ford did not reveal whether this engine has been tuned for more power. In civilian models, it produces 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. However, there is an option for a more powerful engine for the truck. The unit is the 5.0 L, V-8. The V-8 is rated at 385 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque in civilian models. The two engines are paired with the automaker’s new ten-speed automatic gearbox. This transmission features an Auto Start-Stop function to help conserve fuel so that taxpayers don’t complain about the police using guzzlers.

The models are available in either RWD or AWD. In addition, the stock alternator on current models has been replaced with a 240-amp alternator that aligns well with the extra onboard electrical power and the need for extended idle times. The gear selector for the model is mounted on the steering column to create more space in the cabin. The automaker has also hooked up the model with a revised electronic limited-slip differential.

Price and release date

During the release of the F-150 SSV and the Expedition SSV, Ford did not announce how much the police and other government agencies would be paying for the upgraded SSVs. The models will be delivered to authorities in the second half of this year.

One thing I love about Ford Motors is that once they see an opportunity, they exploit it fully. Since the automaker ventured into supplying the government with vehicles customized for law enforcement, the automaker quickly established a strong dominance leaving others to share a small portion. According to Ford, the Police Interceptor Utility is the most popular and most successful Ford car used by the “men in blue”. However, Ford actually has a long list of other vehicles used by the government. In the list is the Ford Expedition SUV, which is customized to 2018 Ford Expedition Police Special Service Vehicle. The automaker says that the SUV is a good fit for agencies that need to carry 5 passengers along with a huge load of equipment without experiencing any problems when the officers decide to veer off the tarmac. The 2018 Ford Expedition SSV was launched alongside the F-150 SSV truck.

2018 Ford Expedition Police Special Service Vehicle

According to Ford, the 2018 Expedition SSV is the most adaptable, smartest and most capable Expedition ever produced. It provides generous space, up-to-date technology and excellent connectivity to the police, government agencies and fleet owners.

2018 Ford Expedition Police Special Service Vehicle Exterior

The body of the 2018 Ford Expedition Police Special Service Vehicle is made of high-strength steel and aluminum alloy. This helps increase the durability of the models as well as protect its elements from various hazards in addition to improving performance.  The exterior look of the SSV is similar to that of the civilian Expedition. Only the lightbar and police decals differentiate the two. In fact, if a civilian model stands side-by-side to an Expedition SSV that does not have the decals and the light bar, you cannot tell the difference.

Interior

The 2018 Ford Expedition SSV has a simplistic cabin when compared with the civilian Expedition. It does not feature most of the comfort and luxury features on the civilian model. At the front, Ford has done away with the 40/20/40 bench in favor of  40/blank/40 seats to create additional space for customization purposes.

Fleet work, law enforcement and other government work can turn out to be messy. To ease cleanup, Ford has replaced the rear carpets and seats wrappings with vinyl.

Engine and performance

The 2018 Ford Expedition SSV like the base 2018 Ford F-150 is powered by a 3.5 L, twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. Currently, the engine produces 365 horses and 420 lb-ft of torque. Channeling power duty is given to the new 10-speed automatic system. The new transmission system delivers enhanced performance and acceleration compared to the 6-speed automatic system it has replaced.

The 2018 Ford Expedition SSV is offered in both RWD and AWD. The automaker also offers an automatic Start/Stop feature that helps to conserve gas.  Ford has also replaced the previous stock alternator with a high-output 240-amp unit. The new unit will put up better with the current needs for extended idle times as well as meet the ever-rising demand for extra onboard electrical power. The Expedition SSV is also hooked up with a limited-slip differential.

Price and release date

Ford did not announce prices of the models during its release. The 2018 Ford Expedition SSV together with its 2018 F-150 SSV brother will be delivered to fleet owners and government agencies later this year.

Ford has been in the business of manufacturing and supplying high-quality fleet police vehicles for a while now. The company’s dominance in the police car market is undeniable and in 2010, they brought a whole angle into the scene by replacing the all-too-familiar Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was replaced with an interceptor whose original idea was adopted from the Ford Taurus. With over 63 percent of market share, the automaker has certainly made the police car market their own.

Ford is set to take yet another step further in its quest to dominate the police car market. The proposed introduction of the new 2018 Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan on Monday in preparation for the New York International Auto confirms this intent. This new line of police fleet vehicles is based on the Ford Fusion Hybrid and its bias for electric-powered vehicles but has been optimized in a unique fashion for police work only. Since this fleet of police vehicles will represent the first ever pursuit-oriented hybrid police cars, they will most certainly save the government and law enforcement agencies thousands of dollars that should have been spent on fuel.
The introduction of the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan into the market, Ford is creating a platform where customers can enjoy vehicles that are powered by electricity and are at the same time efficient and capable of being “up there” when it comes to productivity and vehicle performance.

2018 Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan

Interior

The interior is specialized for police work so we don’t expect high-end designs, features, infotainment or anything of that nature. The inside of the 2018 Police Responder Hybrid Sedan is highlighted with rugged cloth front seats with well designed, slim bolsters to police duty belt some level of support. The vehicle is also fortified with other components that can be customized depending on police’s needs; red and white task lighting dominating the overhead console; vinyl rear seats and floors that are easy to clean; anti-stab plates in the front seats and much more.

2018 Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan Exterior

Ford is expected to specifically make the 2018 Police Responder Hybrid have front deflector plates to the will serve as a protector that will help prevent damage. The wheels are also designed for police use; the kind that performs well in pursuits. The tires and hubcaps will also have the same police car design and pattern with a braking system that is regenerative in nature and also with 17-inch rotors and twin-piston calipers coupled with heavy-duty suspension components.

Engine and Performance

The new hybrid police car is expected to follow the path of Ford electric powered cars. Rumors have it that this hot-pursuit vehicle will be powered by a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor that draws its power from a 1.4-kilowatt lithium-ion battery. Ford’ has infused its new hybrid technology into the engine design of the vehicle, so it will be no surprise if it actually delivers the estimated 38 miles mileage at every gallon consumed in combined driving.

When needed, the vehicle can switch from the battery power to engine mode. It is also estimated that the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan is capable of racking up to 60-mph on battery power but only makes the switch for maximum performance. It is also built and tested for strength so it can withstand tough obstacles and hindrances, and also runs at great speed and overcome seemingly flooded intersections.

Ford’s new hybrid police car will spend a lot of time running on low speed and probably idling away time, hence the designed for urban patrolling. The engine idle time is minimized by making use of the lithium-ion battery embedded in it to power the vehicle.

This will most likely save the police department and indeed the government up to $3,877 on fuel cost and eliminate the need for police officers to always stop for refueling their patrol vehicles

Price and Release date

It is a police vehicle, so not much is known about the price, but the as for the release date, after its debut appearance in New York and Los Angeles, it can be ordered this spring and the delivery will be made in the summer of 2018.

Since its initial debut, the Ford Edge has been a darling of midsize crossover utility vehicle enthusiasts. In 2016, the model sold a record 134,588 vehicles, which represented an 8% increase compared to 2015 sales. To entice buyers even further, at the Dallas-Fort Worth Motor Show recently, Ford announced that it would add a Sport Appearance Package to the SEL trim of the Edge. This would give enthusiasts a great way to customize their Ford Edge. The features added by the 2018 Ford Edge SEL Sport Appearance Package make the edge look sportier both outside and inside. Angela Canales, the Edge brand manager in charge of marketing revealed that the package was a way to offer customers a sporty exterior look and advanced technology at a reasonably affordable price.

2018 Ford Edge SEL Sport Appearance Package Exterior

The most notable addition on the outside is the use of the Magnetic paint unsparingly almost all over the model.  The magnetic treatment starts on the 10-spoke wheels with a 19-inch diameter which themselves are new. The treatment continues on the grille surround, mirror caps, rear spoiler and on the skid plates (both front and rear ones). In addition, the model features a blacked –out trim on the side windows and on the headlight bezels.

2018 Ford Edge SEL Sport Appearance Package

Interior

More additions are to be found inside. To begin with, Ford chose Dallas on purpose. In Arizona, Texas and California, temperatures can get unbearably high. To provide relief to customers in these areas, the automaker has added cloth seats in place of the standard leather seats. Leather seats heat up quite fast making them very hot for passengers. In fact, in these regions, many buyers order their vehicles with cloth seats more than anywhere else in the U.S.

The standard Ford Edge SEL is already well equipped with features such as a SYNC 3 system that integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear camera, a premium sound system as well as a reverse assist system. The standard model can also be had with a black roof rack, and a panoramic vista roof. Other features available include a blind spot monitoring system, a navigation system as well as hands-free power liftgate.

The Sport Appearance Package adds Mayan Gray fabric seats. The seats also feature Miko suede perforated cloth inserts. The seats are contrasted with an Umber contrast stitching.  There is also a head restraint finished in an Umber-colored, suede Miko cloth.

Engine and performance

Being an appearance package, there are no mechanical changes under the hood. Therefore, the 2018 Ford Edge SEL models with the Sport Appearance Package will still use the same engine options as the regular Ford Edge SEL. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0 L, 4-cylinder EcoBoost mill that produces 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. For more power, there is an option for a 3.5 L, Ti-VCT unit that produces 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque.

Price and release date

To get the package, you have to part with $1,295, which is not much considering the features the package adds. Add this amount to the 2017 Ford Edge SEL’s $32,685 for a total price of $33,970. The package will go on sale this fall.

The Ford Escape was first launched 17 years ago. It was produced in a joint venture with Mazda. The collaboration saw Mazda release the Mazda Tribute. The 2018 model will be the third generation. With the new model, Ford is looking to discard the notion of the Escape being just an entry-level crossover SUV. To do this, the automaker will revise all its trim levels to ensure even the lower trims offer quality materials. According to reports, the 2018 Ford Escape will shed its plastic surfaces in favor of high-quality materials.  This will help the model to compete better with its competitors.

2018 Ford Escape Exterior

The automaker has revised the exterior design of the Ford Escape to look more stylish. Designers derived inspiration from 2013 Ford Fusion sedan especially for the front fascia. It features a gigantic grille as well as a sportier bumper. New headlights flank the grille. On the sides, the model has aggressive lines compared to the outgoing model.  The 2018 Ford Escape will also be paired with 19-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the 2018 Ford Escape features a new bumper with a different color from the body color and a new design for the taillights.

The model also features a panoramic roof. Other features largely carry over unchanged from the outgoing model. The current exterior design of the Ford Escape is attractive and does not require many changes. Most of the revisions for the new model are concentrated on the inside.

Interior

To start with, Ford has enlarged the interior to ensure all the five passengers are comfortable.  All passengers will enjoy ample headroom and legroom. The seats are wrapped in leather. In higher trims, the front seats are heated.  The driver seat is height-adjustable to ensure the driver has a good view of the rod ahead. The rear seat has a reclining functionality. The model offers 34 cubic feet of cargos space that can be expanded to 64 cubic feet upon folding of the rear seats.

Buyers will also love the model’s new entertainment features including a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, Wi-Fi connectivity as well as an App link Smartphone integration.

Safety has also been taken care of with a host of semi-autonomous features such as adaptive cruise control, GPS navigation system, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, satellite radio, ABS, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and driver memory settings among others.

Engine and performance

Details about the engines that will power the Escape are still a mystery. However, according to reports, the model will continue with the current lineup of engines. The base unit is a 2.5 L, 4-cylinder engine that produces 168 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. The engine has an EPA rating of 24 mpg on combined drives. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that channels power to the front wheels. AWD is optional.

The turbocharged 1.6 L, EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine will also be retained. It produces 179 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. It is EPA rated at 30 mpg on combined drives with front-wheel drive and 28 mpg with AWD. The final engine is a turbocharged 2.0 L, 4-cylinder EcoBoost mill that produces 245 horses and 275 lb-ft of torque. FWD models return 29mpg while AWD models return 27 mpg on combined drives.

Price and release date

Due to the upgrades, the model’s price will increase slightly. The 2018 Ford Escape will be offered in three trim levels i.e. the S, SE and Titanium trims.  The S trim will have a starting price of around $23,500 while the SE trim will start at around $24,000. The top Titanium trim will fetch around $30,000 before options. Ford will likely display the 2018 Escape at an international Auto Show this summer. Sales in the U.S. will commence in this fall while other markets will receive the model in the first quarter of next year.

Unlike the European and Asian markets, America is the home of big cars. There are very few compact hatchbacks to join the race and Ford has its predominant position for sure. The new 2018 Ford Fiesta ST has even more exciting features just right to attract the younger generation and is much affordable. Yet Ford has packed the hatchback with cutting-edge technology, the world’s first three-cylinder engine offering power and fuel efficiency when needed.

2018 Ford Fiesta ST

2018 Ford Fiesta ST Engine Specifications

Dressed with a turbocharged 1.5 liter EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo engine, reaching a mighty 197 horsepower for the ST is never an issue. Smooth and effortless driving experience is guaranteed and this car can reach 0-60 mph in just 6.7 seconds. Not bad for a hatchback. CO2 emissions have been brought down from 138g/km to 114g/km, thanks to Ford for its environmental concerns. For non-ST variants, the gutsy 1.6-liter four-cylinder and a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost will stand in to do the job.

Fiesta ST is designed for all situations as there are the three drive modes Normal, Sport and Track offer variations in driving experiences. Best for everyday office commute, normal mode is less power hungry and more fuel efficient. Sports offers a mix of both with responsive steering options while track opens the engines wide for a full throttle.

Ford’s new cylinder deactivation technology promises to offer more on fuel efficiency by cutting down one cylinder when full engine performance is not needed. Similarly, the deactivated cylinder can be put in use in a mere 14 milliseconds back to step-up the power. Rumors float on four-wheel drive options, but Ford feels confident with the front wheel drive options on all variants.

2018 Ford Fiesta ST Interior

The sync 3 Infotainment and the 8 Inch standard touchscreen display offers more premium like technical features with ease of connectivity to a multitude of gadgets. Compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Sync3 offers equally competitive features inspired by a tablet-like touchscreen for easy operations during various driving conditions. Superior audio from B&O can be added as per preference. The sporty Recaro seats enhance the look and comfort as Ford knows how to captivate the mass. More personalization on gear shifts, steering wheels, and even dashboards are available choices for ST variants.

2018 Ford Fiesta ST Exterior

Available both in three-door and five-door variations, the aggressive bodyline and bumpers make it look tougher. The 18 Inch five-spoke alloy wheels perfectly holds the car’s body and gives its masculine look, but could have been designed better. Electrifying liquid blue is the standard offer expect a few other variations for a little more personalization.

Advanced front and tail LED lights enhance the sportiness of the hatchback. Clear driving view from the drive seat offers optimal and safe driving experience.

Release Date and Price

Guess Ford is not in a hurry as the non-ST Fiesta may hit the roads only during first part of 2018. The ST version will debut at the Geneva Auto Show 2017, production model may fall behind but not too long. This can’t complain hatchback has a reasonable price tag of $22,335 gives yet another reason for the liking. Overall, the hatchback is lighter on the weight as well as the price tag and aims to offer fun on the run.

When Ford Motors released the 2018 Ford Mustang Coupe, many enthusiasts wondered whether the automaker had decided to discontinue the convertible. However, 3 days after the launch of the coupe, Ford released photos of the convertible variant. The 2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is identical to the coupe in all departments except for the drop-top roof. The timing of the release was meant to capitalize on the Mustang’s newfound success. In America, the Mustang is the best-selling sports car. Although the European market had eluded the Mustang for long, for the first time ever, the model ended last year as the best-selling sport car in Europe. It is also the most in-demand sports car after managing to win customers away from the Audi TT, a model that held the best-selling sports car crown in Europe for long. Read along to find out more:

The new visual modifications make the Mustang look more polarizing than ever. At the front, the new look is characterized by a new grille with a trapezoidal opening at the lower part. Flanking the grille are smaller LED headlights and heritage-laced strips of LED DRLs. The front bumper has also been revised while the hood sits much lower. On the sides, the model features LED light strips in place of triangular-shaped units in the last model.

The rear carries over almost unchanged except for the revised taillights, a new diffuser as well as a modified license plate recess. Models powered by the EcoBoost mill features dual exhaust pipes while the GT features quad pipes with a race-inspired center section.

There are three new exterior colors i.e. Kona Blue, Orange Furry and Royal Crimson. In addition, the Mustang will feature 12 new wheel designs.

Except for the open roof that offers all the headroom in the world, the convertible is identical to the coupe. Like the coupe, the convertible flaunts the new instrument cluster, a new feat for the Mustang. The 12-inch LCD offered as an option has three views that can also be customized depending on the driver’s preferences. The screen can be configured to display various information for the vehicle’s Normal, Sport and Track driving modes. The automaker has also hooked up the Mustang with a new adaptive suspension dubbed the MagneRide borrowed from the Shelby GT350.

Being a performance-oriented car, the Mustang packs high-tech features; these features include various electronic driving aids such as a pre-collision assist system with the pedestrian detection system, a lane-departure warning system, distance alert as well as a lane-keep assist. Buyers can also opt for the FordPass, a Smartphone app that allows the driver to lock, unlock, start or even locate the car in a parking lot.

The images presented by the automaker highlight the instrument cluster with a 1,964.5 numbering on its odometer, a reference to the first generation of Mustangs which arrived at dealer showrooms as 1964.5 models. The 289 miles reading is a representation of the first-gen GT’s 289-cubic-inch V-8 mill.

Engine Specs and performance

Like the coupe, Ford will also not use the naturally aspirated 3.7 L, V-6 on the drop-top version. Therefore, the base mill will be a turbocharged 2.3 L EcoBoost 4-cylinder mill. The automaker revealed that this engine will get a power increase but did not reveal the actual numbers. Buyers looking to get more “juice” from their convertible will have an option to go for the 5.0 L, V-8 engine.

For 2018, this engine will feature direct as well as port fuel injection which will help increase output as well as improve its fuel efficiency. The engines will be mated either to a 6-speed manual gearbox or to the new 10-speed automatic gearbox. The systems channel power to the rear wheels.  The brand-new, 10-speed automatic gearbox improves low-speed acceleration while still boosting fuel economy.  According to Ford, the system also features real-time adaptive shifting to ensure the right gears are selected.

According to social media discussions, the images presented feature the car in the fourth gear at a 55 mph speed that hint at a possible 455 lb-ft of torque. The 4700 rpm may be a hint of 470 hp output. These are mere speculations and official figures will be released later on. If this were to be true, the Mustang will be more powerful than the 6th-Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

Price and release date

Ford is yet to communicate the official release date of the Mustang or its official prices. The 2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible will likely arrive at dealerships late this year or early next year. The convertible will first tour 50 regional shows before being delivered to dealerships.

From all directions, it looks like a Mustang; however, a closer look reveals the several changes made on the exterior design. Most of the new changes are to be found at the front fascia.  The grille is new but almost similar to the one on the outgoing model. Ford has added a trapezoid-shaped opening below the grille.

The black fog lights openings have been replaced with aggressive, triangular cutouts and slim vertical vents. All-LED headlights whose outer corners point downwards flank the grille. Triangular turn signals have been replaced with stripes and placed below the main LED lights. The model also features a revised engine hood.

At the rear, changes are less dramatic. The tri-bar taillights on the previous model have been revised. There is also a new diffuser and a new license plate recess. The EcoBoost model now flaunts dual exhaust pipes while the GT gets a more aggressive quad pipe tips whose center section is race-inspired. There are three new exterior paint works to choose from, they are Kona Blue, Royal Crimson and Orange Furry. In addition, the automaker has added twelve new wheel designs.

2018 Ford Mustang Interior

Unlike the exterior, the interior did not get many changes. Ford has however added hand-stitched seat wrappings with attractive contrast stitching as well as padded knee bolsters. The seats have been restyled and feature new color choices and patterns.  The model’s bezels, door handles and rings have an aluminum finish for a premium look. Ford has added a Mustang badge on the new model’s instrument panel. Both models have an option for a heated steering wheel.

Tech-wise, the model gets a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. The screen can be customized to correspond to the model’s Track, Sport and Normal modes. There is also a fourth mode christened “MyMode” which enables extra customization such as memory settings for throttle, steering and suspension preferences. The automaker’s SYNC Connect along with FordPass is offered as an option. This system enables a driver to lock, unlock, locate and start the car via a Smartphone.

For safety, the Mustang features forward collision assist, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning as well as drowsy driver monitoring. Others include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning as well as reversing camera which carry over from the outgoing model.

Engine Specs and performance

The biggest changes are to be seen under the hood where the automaker has dropped the 3.7 L, V-6. This means the 2.3 L, EcoBoost mill is the base unit. The EcoBoost mill has been tuned to produce more juice although the automaker is yet to confirm by how much.

The 5.0 L, V-8 will also be tuned for more power but the automaker again remained mum about the actual figures. The power increase is courtesy of the automaker’s dual-fuel, high-pressure direct fuel injection as well as low-pressure port fuel injection. This also results in improved fuel economy. The automaker has also upgraded the manual gearbox to handle the increased power. On the V-8, the gearbox will feature a dual-mass flywheel and a twin-clutch for better clutch modulation and better torque capability. Ford has however introduced the new 10-speed automatic system that is available for both mills.  The system provides quicker shift times, less frictional losses and improved low-speed response.

Price and release date

I don’t expect the price of the Mustang to increase significantly. However, since the V-6 has been discontinued, expect the base price to be more expensive. The base EcoBost model currently starts at $26,195. The 2018 Mustang price will likely have a starting price of $27,000 while the EcoBoost Premium will attract around $33,000. More information will be available close to the model’s on-sale release date in the second half of this year.

Competition

The 2018 Ford Mustang competes with the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. However, the Mustang is getting ever closer to the BMW M4 Series and it is a matter of time before the Mustang goes head to head with the Beemer.

America’s top truck company will once again cement its top position with the release of the 2018 Ford F-150.The newest member of the Ford F-150 collection is with the diesel engine. Ford is keeping its customers guessing with little information. Let’s have a look at what will be expected in the new trucks. Read long for more information.

2018 Ford F-150 Exterior

The Ford F-150 hasn’t undergone a complete make-over, but there are some new changes in the exterior. All models have retained the aluminum alloy bodies. All headlamps, bumpers, and grilles are brand new. The models have a visually wider body. Lariant has had its twin bars painted body color to enhance the sporty look. It has a new tail lamp with an F-150 logo stamped on it.

The King Ranch, Limited and Platinum now have horizontal applique on the tailgates. The side mirrors now have spotlights for easier navigation during the night. The new Ford F-150 will have alloy wheels ranging from 17 inches to 22 inches.

On the rear, the model has a revised exhaust pipe, the pipe is bigger compared to that on the current model. It also features additional cutouts that apply the Venturi effect to cool the temperature of the exhaust gas. This system is adopted from the Super Duty truck, which uses a diesel mill. The tailgate also looks to have been upgraded. It has an additional handle as well as a visible crease.

2018 Ford F-150 Interior

The interiors have had a significant make-over regarding technology and appearance. The Platinum has a dark gray theme while the Limited has adopted a Navy Pier theme. The King Ranch has been fitted with seats fit for a king called Kingsville. The Lariant and the XLT will have carbon fiber interior trims.

The latest technology has been used to increase safety. A new pre-collision system complete with a pedestrian detector, a blind spot detector, car location system and a lane-keeping system are some of the significant safety advancements in the 2018 Ford F-150.

The sound system has received an upgrade. A state of the art B&O audio system has been installed. The system has ten Speakers, AM/FM stereo and anMP3 player. The SYNC Connect technology with the Fordpass app has been installed to enhance compatibility with the Apple Car Play and the Android Auto. A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot has been put in place to ensure the driver is connected. The seven models will have an auto start/stop technology.

Engine Specs and performance

The biggest news is under the hood where all indications point to a new diesel mill. However, all things point to a turbocharged 3.0 L, V-6 that is rated at 254 horses and 443 lb-ft of torque. This engine is borrowed from the current Range Rover Sport, the engine will be mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox channeling the juice to all four wheels. The 10-speed transmission system will be an upgrade since on the Range Rover it uses an 8-speed system. This engine will greatly improve the fuel economy ratings of the truck.

The 2018 F-150 will also get a 3.5 L, EcoBoost V-6 that will also be paired to the 10-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces 370 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. I understand that this system is jointly developed with General Motors who will use it on the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The new 3.3L V-6 Petrol engine will have 282 horsepower and 253 lb of torque.

The 2.7L Ecoboost has been upgraded with second generation ports and direct injection technology. Ford has withheld information on the diesel engine and the 5.0 L V-8. However, horsepower and torque are expected to improve.

The engines will have the option of the auto start and stop. This means that the engine will switch off automatically while in traffic and will reignite after stepping on the acceleration.

Other mills powering the current model will also be retained. The mills will, however, be updated to offer more power and enhanced fuel economy.

Price and release date

It is too early to expect Ford to avail details of the 2018 Ford F-150, the new models are expected to be released in the fall of 2017. The prices will range from $ 28,025 to $64,515.
