2016 Ford Kuga Review

Ford is planning to launch a new model of its famous mid-sized SUV 2016 Ford Kuga with new interior and exterior improvements to provide more comfort and luxury.

The new Ford Kuga stretches 183.1 inches with a width of 72.4 inches and a wheel base of 105.9 inches together with a height of 67.4 inches. However, the car disappoints with its poor ground clearance at 200 mm. The new Ford Kuga comes in three trims i.e. the Ambiente, Trend and Titanium. The Kuga has adopted the Ford C1 Platform with five doors and will feature 17, 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels depending on the trim level.

The new front and rear bumpers will receive the same color as the body. The front and rear will feature LED lights with automatic headlights. The model will feature a new set fender with a large rear spoiler.  Its new grille has been embroidered with Chrome accent making the vehicle even more attractive. Other features include chrome window bezels and a new roofing system with rails made in silver.

The general exterior design has been modified so as to reduce its weight while maintaining its aerodynamic capability. This has been achieved using a blend of light-weight steel and aluminum materials.

Body colors provided for the new Ford Kuga 2016 are: Panther Black,Sterling Grey, Burnished Glow, Moondust Silver, Ginger Ale, Deep Impact Blue, Blazer Blue,Frozen White,Race Red and Platinum White.

It being a family car, Ford has tried to mix comfort, power and safety features in this new Kuga. To begin with, the car will feature adjustable premium leather upholstered seats with arm rests. The interior has sufficient leg and head room.

Its two row seating arrangement can accommodate up to five passengers while still maintaining an ample cargo space. To add to that is an array of latest technology features and gadgets. It comes with the latest infotainment system, an updated center console with a large touch screen , a navigation system,  Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB port, satellite radio, rear view camera, parking assistance, a traction control and air bags.

Engine, Specs and Performance

Ford has hooked some really wonderful engine options on the 2016 Ford Kuga hood. The base variant will come with 1.6 L turbo charged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which produces 147hp with 177 lb-ft of torque. This engine will have a combined fuel economy of 35 mpg.

The second engine will be a 1.8 L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine that will produce 180hp and 200 lb-ft of torque with a combined fuel economy of around 37 mpg.

There is also talk of a third diesel engine, a 2.0 L Durateq engine with a capacity to generate 161 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. It is expected to have a combined fuel economy of 37 mpg. This engine will move from 0-60 mph in about 10 seconds with a top speed of around 116 mph.

Price and release date

The start (MSRP) price of the base model of the 2016 Ford Kuga will come at $ 28,900. The higher trim levels will cost much more. Titanium which is the highest trim level will go for as much as $ 46,990. The release date is not yet known but rumor has it that it will hit the market in early 2016.

COMPETITION

In the class mid-size SUV competition is very strong, there are the new Audi Q5 and BMW X5, Lexus NX 200t or maybe Dodge Journey.
