From the first time you slide into the driver’s seat, it is apparent that this is not your father’s car. The technological advancements of recent years is apparent throughout the 7-passenger vehicle. From the convenience of the push button lowering of the third row seat to the comfort of the massaging multi-contour font seats, this car is jam-packed with luxury features that would be expected in a BMW or Mercedes and most of it can be controlled from an 8 inch touchscreen display.

Engine and Specs

Step on the accelerator and the advancements Ford has made with their latest version of the Galaxy are impossible to miss. Multiple engine options are available under the hood. Both the 1.5 and 2.0 Ecoburst I-4 engines are available. These fuel efficient models get 34 mpg and 28 mpg combined respectively and feature up to 240HP. The 2.0 Diesel TDC I-4 engine boasts options ranging from 120 HP to 180 HP and boasts 210 HP and 330 lb-ft of torque when combined with bio-turbo technology. The speed, torque and fuel efficiency in the Galaxy are almost unheard of in a car this size.

Safety features are also a standard part of the new Galaxy’s identity. Advanced technology on the car’s LED headlamps detects oncoming vehicles and adjusts the light output so as not to interfere with the vision of other drivers on the roadway. The intelligent speed limiter system scans roadway signage to detect the posted speed limit and then adjusts the car’s speed in order to decrease the likelihood of a traffic ticket. Pre-collision assistance detects obstacles in the car’s path to avoid impacts.

2016 Ford Galaxy Exterior

Take a stroll around the outside of the new Galaxy and you will immediately see that it is a larger car than its ancestors. The windshield is larger and the nose of the car is lower and more angled. With 187.8 inches in length and 74.2 inches across, this car provides all of the space and stability that even a large family would need. Sitting atop a 65.4 inch wheelbase on 16 or 17 inch alloy wheels, the vehicle drives smoothly and doesn’t seem like it weighs more than 3800 pounds when it is being driven. This year’s Galaxy was definitely designed with efficiency in mind without sacrificing luxury.
