2016 Ford Edge Review

The new 2016 Ford Edge which is an evolutionary and revolutionary model of its bigger brothers. It is expected to accommodate five occupants while delivering impeccable fuel economy. The automaker has promised to craft a peerless and top-speed SUV, characterized by a premium stance, attractive body shell and Ford’s newly-developed SYNC 3 infotainment system.

The new mid-size Edge crossover SUV can accommodate five adult occupants. Its cabin has been face-lifted and boasts leatherette upholstery and soft fabric materials. Other materials are made of high-end plastics, including the center-console that integrates intuitive controls and an 8-inch touchscreen operated by either SYNC or MyFord infotainment system.

The setup’s telemetry features come on the bleeding edge of technology, with GPS, 3D navigation, Bluetooth connectivity GSM, and music streaming. Above the protruded dashboard, there are various USB ports and charging slots which are hidden. Its meaty and telescoping steering wheel will be coated with leather. It will also feature a dual-zone automated climate control. Other notables include electric/heated seats, air conditioners, anti-lock brakes, forward crash warning, rear-and-front parking assist and other safety features.

New Edge now exhibits a pointed trapezoidal grille that dovetails into razor-sharp LED headlamps giving an aggressive and subtly-constructed front fascia. It will be a five-door, with an ideally flanked roofline, windscreen and rear spoiler. Its pronounced look will be enhanced by a short nose, chrome decorations, and entrancing wheel arches blended with perfect aerodynamics.

The rear part will bulge outwards, with trapezoidal LED lights arrayed horizontally and an intersecting bridge. The bumper will feature a number of rectangular-shaped exhaust pipes. Nevertheless, it will impart exterior lines from the penultimate 2015 Ford Edge.

New Edge 2016 Engine and Specs

In line with authoritative sources, the 2016 Ford Edge may be equipped with any engine from a list of three speculated mills. At the fore is a 2.0-liter dual-turbocharged engine churning out 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque for all-wheel-drive versions with towing capacity.

The other option is a 3.5-liter V6 engine serving up 280 ponies and 250 lb-ft of twist. Its top-ranging mill is a venerable 2.7 V6 EcoBoost turbocharged engine producing 315 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of twist. The foregoing engines will be mated to an automated transmission and can launch the car from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

Price and Release Date 

The 2016 Ford Edge will be offered in different trim levels, the entry level will be sold at $28,000 and prices of  the peak models are rated at $37,000. It will be released at the end of 2015 while other models will be sold at the beginning of 2016.

Competition to the new Ford Edge could be 2016 Lincoln MKC or new Chevrolet Trax.
